HYDERABAD, March 10: Comrade Maula Bux was re-elected as the central secretary general of the Communist Party of Pakistan here on Sunday.
The decision was made on the last day of the three-day seventh congress of the party held at the Hyderabad Press Club.
A six-member central committee, comprising Imdad Kazi, Mansoor Saeed, Rana Shaukat, Mandal Sher, Sadiq Jatoi and M.H. Sufi, was also elected.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Bux said that the party would make efforts to reorganize the trade union movement on the basis of class system.
He said that the party would launch a consistent struggle against the presence of American forces in Pakistan and the hegemony of the multinational companies, IMF and the World Bank.
Mr Bux said the party would struggle for the restoration of a genuine democracy in the country.
The CPP would also work for the self-determination of the oppressed Sindhi, Pakhtoon, Baloch and Seraiki people.
Mr Kazi pledged to continue struggle against the water projects.
MQM: A delegation of Gari Khata residents met former MQM MPA, Syed Afzal Shah, and informed him about the civic problems of the area.
