SUKKUR, March 9: The four-year-long feud between two groups of Maher tribe of Kotdiji, Khairpur district, in which 14 people were killed from both sides, was resolved at a Jirga held at Ghotki on Friday.
Ghotki Zila Nazim Gohar Khan Maher chaired the Jirga while Sukkur Zila Nazim Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Sardar Rahim Bux Bozdar, Sardar Munawwar Khan Narijo, Syed Sarkar Hussain Shah, Pir Noorul Huda Shah, Zabardast Khan Maher and Ghulam Mustafa Abro and assisted him.
The witnesses and other people of the two groups gave their statements for over 3 hours, after which the Jirga verdict was pronounced by Sardar Ali Gohar Maher.
Accordingly, Rs2,500,000 fine was imposed on the group of Sardar Sher Mohammad Maher, and Rs2,100,000 on Khadim Hussain Maher, while Rs400,000 were also fined on dispute between them.
The collective amount of Rs5,000,000 would be paid to Sardar Ali Gohar Maher, to be distributed among the heirs, and would be paid in three instalments. Both the groups would also withdraw their litigations in the courts, voluntarily.
KILLED: Tariq Ahmed, 16, son of Abdul Karim Ubro, was gunned down by unidentified armed men in the jurisdiction of the SITE police station on Friday.
