ISLAMABAD, March 4: The defence officials of Pakistan and Thailand on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding for extending logistic cooperation between the two countries, a Foreign Office official said.

The MoU was singed following a meeting between Thai Foreign Minister Dr Surakiart Sathirathai and Foreign Minister Abdul Sattar.

Later the Thai foreign minister, who is on a two-day official visit to Pakistan called on President Pervez Musharraf.

In the meeting with the President subjects which remained in focus of discussion included bilateral matters, situation in Afghanistan, Pakistan-India relations and the current tension in South Asia.

A number of proposals to promote bilateral cooperation in various areas were discussed. Dr Sathirathai appreciated Pakistan’s role in the international campaign against terrorism.

He also praised Pakistani’s efforts to de-escalate tension with India and to resolve all outstanding issues including the Kashmir dispute through peaceful means.
