ISLAMABAD, June 4: Pakistan stopped an Indian Embassy official, accused of spying, from leaving the country on Tuesday.

India’s acting ambassador Sudhir Vyas told Reuters that he had lodged a strong protest with Pakistan against, what he called, “reprehensible and uncivilised” behaviour by police while blocking the evacuation of staffer Gulwant Singh.

But a Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokesman said Mr Singh was stopped for failing to complete “the procedural requirements agreed between the two countries”.—Reuters
