Bowlers shine in vital tie

KARACHI, Feb 18: As many as 17 wickets fell on the first day of the vital Group-II Quaid Trophy Grade-I match between Peshawar and Sheikhupura at Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar Monday.

Sheikhupura, after being put in, were dismissed for 162 in their first innings with skipper Maqsood Raza top-scoring with 40.

Test discards Kabir Khan and Fazle Akbar shared the bowling honours with four wickets each, giving away 46 and 56 runs respectively.

Peshawar’s innings also got off to a dramatic start with five wickets crashing for 41 runs. But all-rounder Taimur Khan, who took two for 20 earlier in the day, kept his cool to guide Peshawar to 138 for seven with an unbeaten 47.

The winners of this match earn the right to play the March 1-5 final.
