DADU, Feb 13: The councillors and Nazims belonging to the Awam Dost Panel boycotted the session of the Dadu district council on Tuesday.
They staged a demonstration in front of the district council hall to protest against the attitude of the acting convener of the council.
The demonstrators were led by Nazim, Khudabad union council, Mohammad Paryal Birmani, Nazim, Bahawalpur UC, Saeed Ahmed Jamali and Nazim, Sindh University UC, Naima Baloch.
Talking to the newsmen, Mr Birmani, said that in the absence of the Naib Nazim, Sadaqat Ali Khan Jatoi, the acting convener of the session, Ali Mohammad Soomro, Nazim, Sita town UC, was not entertaining the issues raised by the members of the Awam Dost Panel.
Ms Baloch said that she had complained against some officials of the provincial and federal departments of the district in previous sessions of the council but the convener had not issued notices to them to appear in the session for explanation.
Mr Jamali said that not a single issue raised by the member of the Awam Dost Panel was resolved in the district. They had complained to the convener against the corrupt officials but no action was taken.
He warned that they would not attend the session if the ruling group, Dadu Ittehad, did not change its behaviour and resolve their problems.
Meanwhile, the acting convener of district council Ali Mohammad Soomro while talking to newsmen in the press club said that in the absence of the Naib Nazim, he had acted according to the law.
He said that he had not misbehaved with any member of the council and added that he had issued notices to some officials after receiving complaints from the members of the Awam Dost Panel.
DEMO: Hundreds of residents of different newly established colonies of Dadu town staged a demonstration in front of the office of the Dadu district Nazim on Tuesday to protest against the non-availability of the civic amenities.
The colonies included G.M. Colony, Sikandarabad, Latifabad and others.
The protesters were chanting slogans against the district administration.
