Philanthropists urged to donate for defence

SHEIKHUPURA, Feb 8: The industrialists and philanthropists should deposit generous donations with the district defence fund for the construction of bunkers to guard against war.

This was stated by district Nazim Chaudhry Tawakalullah Virk while speaking at a convention held here on Friday.

He urged the contributors to stand by the army by offering financial assistance to be deposited with the defence fund account which will be operative within couple of days jointly for representatives of industrial community and administration.

He said the local building department would soon start constructing bunkers after consultation with the army. The district government has earmarked a sum of Rs3 million at the behest of army for having transportation of arms and ammunition.
