HARIPUR, Jan 29: Improvement of Haripur-Hattar-Taxila Road project will be completed by July this year while a bridge being constructed in Dohrian is expected to be completed by next month.

This vital project of industrial and commercial use as well as public transportation would cost Rs90 millions. This was told to District Nazim, Haripur, Dr Raja Amer Zaman during a briefing held at Farooqia, near Hattar the other day.

Frontier Works Organization, the executing agency of the project, arranged the briefing.

It was told that work on the project was commenced in August last year and a portion of six kilometers from Farooqia end, had been completed while work on the remaining portion, from Haripur to Taxila, would be started soon.

It was told that 6.3km kacha and 13.9km concrete drains would also be constructed alongside the road for sanitation purposes. To ensure sustainability of the road, 4.1km retaining walls were being erected at different points.

The District Nazim was informed that completion of the bridge was expected by Feb 28 at a cost of Rs8.5 millions.

Raja Amer Zaman appreciated the quality as well as pace of work and asked FWO to ensure completion of the project within the stipulated time.

He said as the road leads to Hattar, the biggest industrial estate of the province, and it was a great source of facilitating industrial and commercial activities, it must, therefore, be given due preference for early construction and post-completion maintenance as well.

The District Nazim said that like other big roads, the government intended to levy the Toll Tax on this road as well to generate financial resources for its maintenance and repanirs.
