LAHORE, Dec 6: Bishop Club annexed the Lahore Inter-club Ramazan-ul-Mubarak basketball tournament title, beating Don Bosco Club in a thrilling final 80-78 at the Cathedral School II courts Thursday.

Bishop Club was losing the first half at 49-55, but made a grand recovery in the second half to first eliminate the deficit of the first half and then finished the second half with two points lead.

Pervez Younis was the main source of the points for the winning side. He raided the rival’s basket fluently and grabbed 27 points. Zahid Anthony who remained a big source of points throughout the tournament was off-colour in the final as he contributed only two points. Javed Younis (10), Kamran Raja (6) and Sheeraz (6) were the other main scorers for the winners.

For Don Bosco Club, Abdur Rahman displayed a high order game and was the major scorer of the match with 30 points. Usman Butt (18), Ali Naseer (15) and Saman Mahboob (12) also fought well.

Earlier, on Wednesday’s night, Bishop Club defeated New  Age Club 56-51 in another tough competition of the Super League, and entered the final. Bishop Club led the first half 28-24.

Pervez Younis (16), Kamran Raja (16), Zahid Anthony (12)  were the  key  scorers for the Bishop Club. For New Age  Club,  Kamran Munawar (18) was the top scorer followed by Maqsood (12) and Riaz Butt (11).

Don Bosco Club staged a come back to beat Brothers Club 65-63 to qualify for the final. Brothers Club had gained 29-28 lead  at the half time but could not maintain it in the second half due to lapses in attack. For  the winners, Ali Naseer (20), Abdur Rahman  (15),  Shahbaz (12) and Saman Mahboob (10) touched the double figures. Brothers Club served well by Airaj Gull (24) and Jawad Amin (20) in taking first half lead. Aasim Kazmi also scored 10 points.
