PESHAWAR, Nov 27: NWFP Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah has said that the NWFP government would extend all possible help to the agencies providing relief to Afghan persons camped in Paki-stan.
He was talking to a delegation of International Commission of Red Cross, led by Alferd Grim at the Governor’s House here on Monday.
The governor said that the NWFP government would utilize all available resources to help the hapless Afghans in these difficult times. There should be no hindrance in the way of providing aid and services to the hapless Afghans, he said and added that: “It becomes our responsibility to collaborate in these activities with international community.”
Referring to the security measures on the border, he said, the surveillance on the border had been tightened and it was not possible for anyone to cross the border. He said the ICRC should keep an eye on the situation in Afghanistan arising out of the surrender of the Taliban militia.
The delegation informed the governor about its aid activities in Afghanistan on the occasion. The delegation said that the recent operations in Afghanistan had caused large-scale devastation.
