KARACHI, Nov 23: A fine bowling performance by Amjad Abbasi, helped Karachi Psychiatric Hospital beat Nazeer Gymkhana by six wickets Friday in the Eighth Shoaib Trophy Ramazan Colour Kit cricket tournament at the TMC ground.
Although M. Munawwar hammered 71 runs for Nasser Gymkhana, his team could only reach 148 for nine in the allotted 20 overs with other knocks by Mushtaq (27) and Arshad Mir (20). Amjad Abbasi (4-24) was the pick of the bowlers.
KPH in reply got the winning runs with five deliveries to spare in reaching 149 for four, through Amjad Abbasi (41), Tabish ur Rehman (32), and Nazeer Shaikh (25 n.o.) Omar Baloch bagged 3/27.
In another fixture played at the Yousuf Plaza ground, United Sports beat Young Muslim by only one run.
Batting first United Sports scored 155 for four in 20 overs with Syed Abdullah (65), Moid Farooqui (45), along with Adil Naseem and Mohsin Raza with 24 runs apiece in fine fettle with the willow.
Young Muslim CC took up the challenge but fell short of the victory target by just one run in reaching 154 for five in their stipulated 20 overs.
Ayaz Ali Shah hit up 68 runs with Zeeshan Pasha chipping in with 37 and Babar Khan 31. Moid Farooqui (2-15) and Adil Naseem (2-16) helped their team through to their narrow win.
