SUKKUR, Nov 23: The Sukkur police took custody of four dacoits from the central jail Sukkur for a 14-day physical remand.
They will be interrogated regarding the kidnapping of a transporter of Sukkur, Munawwar Rajput, who was kidnapped from the Airport Road, Sukkur, on Nov 17.
Those remanded are Alam Teghani, Saleh Teghani, Belo Teghani, and Arabi Jatoi.
Din M. Baloch, who was personally investigating the kidnapping case, was tipped off that the armed dacoits were operating from the jail and were indirectly involved in the kidnapping and demanding ransom for Mr Rajput’s release.
Police also arrested some relatives of dacoit Khameso Bhayo who had allegedly played a key role in the kidnapping of Mr Rajput.
It is said that Khameso Bhayo, a former police constable of Karachi, was wanted in dozens of dacoities and robberies in Karachi. He was also involved in the kidnapping of Sarfaraz Shah, brother of federal minister Shoukat Shah, Dr Amanullah Bhurgari (general manager, Rohri cement factory), Ashiq Arain, and A. Dino Lakho among others.
Police were on his lookout and had picked up some of his relatives including womenfolk.
TAXI DRIVER MISSING: The body of a taxi driver, Manzoor Khaskheli, who had been missing since the last three days, was recovered by the Thari Mirwah police from a deserted place on Friday.
Police raided Chima village and arrested two men, Yaser Bajwa and Rashid Chima, who during interrogation confessed that they tried to snatch the taxi from Manzoor, and when he resisted they killed him and threw his body in a deserted place.
VILLAGER KILLED: Dacoits killed a villager, Abdul Ghani Kalhoro, in Kafeez village, near Shikarpur, on Thursday night.
LOOTED: Three armed dacoits intercepted a Hindu trader Narain Das on Tangwani -Kashmore Road, deprived him of cash amount of Rs.10,000, wristwatch, gold rings and also hijacked his motorcycle and fled.
Police have registered a case and were investigating.
