PESHAWAR, Nov 14: Abdur Rahim Mandokhel, deputy chairman of the Pushtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PMAP), on Wednesday held what he called the military and Punjabi bureaucracy responsible for the genocide of Afghans and destruction of their country.

Speaking at the third death anniversary of the PMAP general secretary late Sher Ali Bacha here at a local hotel, he said successive rulers in Islamabad had intervened in the affairs of Afghanistan in the name of Islam and promoted terrorism which had done enough damage to Afghan people and their society during the last 23 years.

He lashed out at Osama bin Laden and his Arab followers and held them equally responsible for the destruction of Afghanistan.

He advised Osama and other trouble-makers to move out of Afghanistan and fight for the liberation of Palestine and for a just order in Saudi Arabia and other countries run by dictators.

Osama, he said, had brought destruction for his host country. He said the US was just in hunting down terrorists, but it must not punished Afghans for the sins of others.

Citing the history of Pakistan, Mr Mandokhel held the army and Punjabi bureaucracy responsible for the recurrence of repeated spells of dictatorship in Pakistan.

He also criticised Hameed Gul and Naseerullah Babar for their dubious role in Afghan affairs. He advised the religious parties to wage a Jihad against the military rule in Pakistan rather than going to Afghanistan or fuelling intra-Afghan war.

Mr Mandokhel said a Loya Jirga supervised by the former Afghan King Zahir Shah was the only solution to the present crisis. He proposed formation of an interim government in Kabul for the restoration central authority in Afghanistan.
