HYDERABAD, Oct 21: About one dozen workers of Anwar Zeb white cement factory Kotri staged token hunger strike outside the Hyderabad press club here on Sunday to protest against the sacking of their union leaders and non-acceptance of the workers’ charter of demands.
Talking to newsmen, the general secretary of the workers union, Mehdi Hassan accused the factory management of unlawful labour practices.
He said that five union leaders had been sacked and the management had refused to accept the charter of demands, adding that the management had also violated court orders.
The labour leader warned if the sacked workers were not reinstated and the management continued to violate the labour laws, the workers would observe indefinite strike from Friday.
ATTACK: Six villagers of Usman Shah Huri of Tando Adam including two women and three children staged token hunger strike outside the Hyderabad press club here on Sunday to protest against that alleged armed attack on the house of a villager Lalu Khoso and kidnapping of Lalu and his seven-year old son.
Talking to newsmen Budho Khoso said that on Sunday night, 12 armed persons, six of whom were wearing police uniforms, attacked the house of Lalu, tortured his wife Latifan and kidnapped Lalu and his son Zahid.
He said the family had old enmity with Meehon Khan Khoso, who had killed his cousin and kidnapped a woman Sardari seven year ago.
He feared that Lalu and his son also might be killed.
Budho complained that the villagers went to Usman Shah Huri police station but the police refused to register FIR.
He appealed authorities to rescue Lalu Khoso and his son.
