Airlinks revive today

KARACHI, Dec 31: The first PIA flight PK-270 will leave for New Delhi on Thursday, restoring airlinks suspended between the two countries for nearly two years.

A PIA Boeing 737 with full load will take off for New Delhi from Lahore at 2pm and return to Pakistan the same day at 6-10pm, also with full load. The Air India will resume flights for Lahore and Karachi from the first week of January, and will operate two flights a week.

The PIA will operate six flights a week from Karachi and Lahore for Delhi and Bombay. The PIA will operate two flights each for Delhi and Bombay from Karachi and two flights for Delhi from Lahore. PIA's first flight to Bombay will operate on Friday at 8am.

Later, the airline will be operating its flights from Karachi for New Delhi on every Saturday and Tuesday and for Bombay on Monday. The PIA has re-established its offices in New Delhi and Bombay.

With the reopening of airspace, the PIA will also be resuming its operations for Bangkok, Kathmandu, Colombo and Dhaka. On the other hand Air India will also operate between New Delhi and Kabul via Amritsar using the Pakistan airspace.

According to PIA arrangements have been made for stay of Indian transit passengers at the Airport Hotel. -APP
