SRINAGAR, Oct 14: A suspected militant was killed and at least five people were injured in two separate attacks on Saturday in the Indian-held Kashmir, police and army officials said.

The militant was killed in a gunbattle in the village of Senzan, about 35 kilometers south of Srinagar, said Imtiaz Hussain, a local police superintendent.

Police surrounded Senzan after they received a tip that militants were hiding in the village. The militants died in the ensuing gunbattle, he said.

Separately, militants ambushed an army patrol team in Nadihal, a village north of Srinagar, wounding five people including two soldiers, said army spokesman Lt. Col. A. K. Mathur.
