HYDERABAD: Telling truth is real jihad: MQM chief

HYDERABAD, April 26: Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain has said that salvation of the Muslim Ummah lay in following the message of the Holy Book and practicing the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). He said one could not become a Muslim just by reciting Kalima but by following and practicing the cardinal principles of Islam which had come to us through the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

He said that some elements were misinterpreting the meaning of Jihad and were misguiding the people.

Directly addressing the MQM workers, he said “Jihad” was a vast subject and added that speaking out the truth and rejecting falsehood was a big Jihad.

He was speaking on telephone from London to a huge gathering of “Mehfil-i-Zikr-i-Mustafa” organised by the local chapter of MQM on Monday night.

Mr Hussain said it was ordained by God Almighty to recite “Darood Sharif” because the Holy Prophet (PBUH) was the beloved of the creator of the universe. He said the Holy Prophet was the last prophet.

Mr Hussain pointed out that the prayers remained incomplete without reciting Dorood Sharif.

He said preaching alone was not enough unless it was followed by practice as enjoined by the Holy Book and the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

He said the message of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) was not meant for Muslims alone but for the entire human race.

He said even before “Nabuwwat”, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) was known for his trustworthines and for always spoke out the truth and he was named as Sadiq and Amin.

He said it was the Holy Prophet (PBUH) who was selected by the Quresh tribes to install the “Hajar Aswad”.

He said the Holy Prophet (PBUH) had upheld the dignity of labour and propounded the principle of equality of all human beings.

He said the Holy Prophet (PBUH) never ever preached anything to others which he did not practise himself. The MQM chief said he himself was strictly following this practice.
