ISLAMABAD, June 4: The Federal Services Tribunal reinstated three Wapda officials who had challenged their compulsory retirement under Section 17-1(A)(a) of the Wapda Act.

FST chairman Justice Amanullah Abbasi observed that this clause was no more operative as it had been declared repugnant to the injunctions of Islam by the Federal Shariat Court. The decision was later endorsed by the Supreme Court, he added.
