KARACHI, March 6: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan has directed the education department and boards of education to provide incentives in examination marks to those joining the scouts and girl guides.

He was speaking as a chief guest at the concluding ceremony of City Scouts Camporee held at Scouts Colony, Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Sunday.

Dr Ibad appreciated the spirits of the scouting children. He called upon them to strengthen discipline in their lives, respect their elders and show love and brotherhood to those of their age.

The governor announced award of Rs500 for each of the 6,500 scouts attending the camporee and governor's commendation certificate. On the occasion he met the eldest 100-year-old scout Rana Abdul Waheed and announced a grant of Rs100, 000 for him in appreciation of his services.

Speaking on the occasion Dr Ibad said that the importance and utility of scouting and its spirit of service to humanity was an established fact. He observed that the mission of scouting was in accordance with the teachings of Islam i.e. to serve the humanity and to serve by remaining above any recognition or remuneration.

Dr Ibad was of the view that scouting was an organised institution working without any discrimination on the basis of cast, colour or creed.

The governor expressed the confidence that the scout movement would progress in Pakistan and particularly in Sindh. Highlighting the importance of such camps he said the scouts would certainly be imbibed with the true spirit of nationalism, peace and tranquillity.

Dr Ibad expressed hope that courageous and high minded people would adopt the movement as an obligation. He stressed the need for the promotion of the movement at provincial, district and regional levels. The ceremony was also addressed by EDO Schools, Aijaz Ahmed Khan.

The Provincial Scouts Commissioner, Ghulam Ali Shah Pasha, EDO Colleges Rais Alvi, DO Education Ghulam Mustafa Abbasi and other scout leaders were also present.

Earlier the governor visited various sections of the camporee and met the scouts.-APP
