KARACHI, Feb 8: The administration, students - and their parents - of the Karachi Grammar School, have expressed worries over reports that the government was considering moving the US Consulate General to the premises of the Peoples Hippodrome adjacent to the school located in Boat Basin area, Clifton.
The school administration also convened on Monday a meeting of the class coordinators to convey through them its concern to parents, requesting them to use influence and exert pressure on the authorities to stop the move.
The school administration in its memorandum feared that such a move would seriously impair the everyday functioning of the institution with intermittent traffic diversions, road closures, parking restrictions etc. One could also envisage unscheduled school closures and the ongoing security situation posed by bomb threats, it added.
The memorandum stated that the school administration was contacting authorities concerned including the Sindh governor, chief minister and the city nazim to stop the move before any final decision was taken, which reportedly was expected within a week. - PPI
