LAHORE, June 3: The Punjab government has announced 40 per cent increase in the salaries of Aitchison College teachers and other staff.

The increase will bring the Aitchison College teachers’ service structure in line with the national pay scales available to the public sector teachers.

The decision was taken at the Aitchison College’s board of governors meeting presided over by Punjab Governor Khalid Maqbool at the Governor’s House on Monday.

The governor also constituted a committee headed by BoG’s senior member Syed Babar Ali to identify terms of reference for teachers’ job, review teachers’ performance, fee structure and revision and compilation of curricula.

The committee, supposed to present its recommendation to the governor, will be authorized to amend Aitchison College’s Rules of Business 1994.

Governor Maqbool said the government wanted that the operational control of the college should stay within the jurisdiction of its board of governors.

He directed that all teachers, whose service in the college was less than 10 years, should specifically be monitored. He also directed the college BoG to review the formulation table of payment of pension to its retired teachers.

Besides Aitchison College BoG members, Punjab Chief Secretary Imtiaz Masroor, GCC 10-Div of Army Maj-Gen Afzal Muzaffar, Sargodha District Nazim Amjad Ali Noon, Finance Secretary Salman Siddique and Education Secretary Sabtain Fazl-i-Haleem attended the meeting.
