MUZAFFARABAD, Nov 6: AJK Prime Minister Sardar Sikandar Hayat has sought the help of the Saudi Arabian ambassador for the release of a Pakistani national of Kashmiri-origin languishing in a Saudi jail for more than a year reportedly without any trial , sources told Dawn here on Friday.

The sources said Mohammad Saeed Qureshi was detained by the Jeddah police on Aug 14, last year when he visited them to ascertain details about the arrest of his son, Fahad, who was apprehended by the police allegedly for driving without a licence.

However, the sources said, Mr Fahad was released by the police and deported to Pakistan after some time but unfortunately Mr Qureshi himself was still languishing in Briman Jail, Jeddah, "without commission of any offence and without any trial".
