PESHAWAR: JUI flays hike in POL rates

PESHAWAR, June 3: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam, NWFP chapter, has expressed concern over increase in petrol and diesel prices and imposition of general sales tax on medicines.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, the provincial secretary information of JUI, Haji Abdul Jalil Jan, said the recent increase in petrol prices would add to the worries of already burdened lower class of the society.

Instead of providing relief to the people, he said, the government levied general sales tax on drugs. He urged the government to reduce petrol prices and withdraw tax on medicines.

He also denounced the NWFP government proposals to introduce music classes in schools. He asked all the district governments to oppose the proposal .—Bureau
