ABBOTTABAD, Oct 31: The District Council at a meeting here on Saturday allocated Rs38.39 million for the annual development programme of the district.
The council's session was presided over by Naib Nazim Barrister Javed Abbasi.
District Nazim Col (retd) Mustafa Jadoon told the council that Rs16.10 million had been directly provided to the union councils for the development schemes, while Rs 18.90 million would be spent by the district council on the ongoing and some new schemes.
He said under the Citizen Community Board (CCB) schemes, Rs8.6 million had been released to some CCBs.
Mr Kamran Ahmed speaking on this occasion, demanded the revival of M&R Fund (Maintenance and Repair) for the improvement of streets and sanitation in the city. He demanded that funds from the Baitul Maal under the food forms should be disbursed among the deserving applicants before Eid so that all the needy people could benefit from the scheme.
Mr Tahir Faraz Abbasi speaking on the session, said that the federal minister for petroleum had provided Rs180 million for the provision of Sui gas to the Birot area, while the district council provided only Rs0.3 million for the scheme. He demanded that the district council's share in the gas project and the CCB schemes should be increased.
Sardar Hukamdad said that buildings of four schools in the Birn Gali union council had collapsed due to rains and landslides. He demanded funds for the reconstruction and repair of the school buildings.
