TOBA TEK SINGH, Oct 30: Merit has been violated in awarding scholarships to the girls students who have passed the 5th class examination (2003-2004) with distinction.

A source claimed that the name of Fatima Mahmood, who secured 260 marks, had been deleted from the list of scholarships while the last three girls included in the seven girls list had only 258 marks.

Parents have urged the Education department high ups to intervene in the matter and to order the preparation of new list on merit basis.

SCHOOLS: The Punjab government is considering setting up of two new special education schools at Gojra and Kamalia for the deaf and dumb students.

This was stated by District Nazim Chaudhry Muhammad Ashfaq while addressing at the hearing aid equipment distribution ceremony here on Friday.

The District Nazim assured that the DHQ's Special Education Middle School would soon be upgraded to the secondary level. He said the school children would also be provided the transport facility.
