LAHORE, Oct 28: Dr Maj Muzaffar Shah (retired) was a dedicated Kashmiri leader who had devoted himself to the cause of freedom of the valley.

This was the consensus of the speeches made at a condolence reference held for Dr Shah by the Kashmir Action Committee, Pakistan at the Aiwan Karkunan Therik-i-Pakistan here on Thursday with acting KACP President Air Marshal Khurshid Anwar Mirza (retired) in the chair.

Former chief justice Dr Nasim Hasan Shah said Dr Muzaffar had worked hard to highlight the cause of Kashmir through public meetings, seminars and rallies held on important occasions in the history of Jammu and Kashmir. He used to express his resentment at the atrocities committed by the India forces on the innocent people of Kashmir. He asked the Kashmiri leaders to follow his example for the cause of the Kashmiri people.

In his presidential remarks, Air Marshal Anwar Mirza (retired) said he had found Dr Muzaffar quite hale and hearty when he (the doctor) had invited him to lunch a day before leaving for England and he had planned to return after a fortnight.

He said Dr Muzaffar had great feelings of love and affection for everybody. He had dedicated himself for the cause of Kashmir and never missed any occasion without discussing the Kashmir issue. He urged the Kashmiri leaders to continue his mission.

Justice Sharif Husain Bokhari (retired) said Dr Muzaffar Shah had left his entire family in occupied Kashmir and migrated to Pakistan to fight for the people of Kashmir. In Pakistan, he had been taking part in the Kashmiris' struggle for freedom by setting up the Kashmir Action Committee and providing necessary relief to the displaced Kashmiris.

He said he had also been taking part in the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) activities as its Punjab branch president. He also edited the PMA newspaper, Medical Tribune.
