Omar Abdullah escapes attack

SRINAGAR, Oct 24: The head of held Kashmir's main opposition party, Omar Abdullah, escaped assassination on Sunday for the second time in a month when Muslim rebels tried to blow up his vehicle, police said.

They said four people were injured in the blast, one critically.

Abdullah leads the pro-India National Conference party and earlier served as India's junior foreign minister.

MOURNERS ATTACKED: Earlier, militants bombed mourners arriving at a graveyard in Anantnag, 50km from Srinagar on Sunday for the funeral of a murdered opposition party leader, killing one and wounding six, police and witnesses said.-Reuters
