GUJRANWALA, Oct 18: Residents of Kamoki blocked the GT Road here on Monday to protest the killing of an orphan girl and injuring her sister by dacoits during a robbery attempt in Sharifpura. The protesters chanted slogans against the police for not arresting the accused.

Reports said 12 outlaws forced their entry into the houses of Abdul Ghani and the late Muhammad Latif by scaling the boundary walls on Sunday night. They started looting the inmates simultaneously. On resistance by the family members of Latif, the bandits opened fire injuring two sisters Rehana and Shabana. The former died in civil hospital while the condition of the latter was stated to be critical.

Additional Superintendent Police Waqar Ahmad Chohan and other senior officials reached the spot and assured the protesters that the accused would be arrested soon.

ROBBERIES: Dacoits looted a passenger bus, ghee mills, two houses and took away a motorcycle in five strikes in and around the city here on Monday.

Reports said four robbers boarded a Rawalpindi-bound bus (FDY-4237) at Dhaunkel posing as passengers. Later they took away cash, gold jewellery and other valuables from passengers.

Seven bandits stormed a ghee mills by scaling the boundary wall. They tied gunmen Hanif and Munir with ropes and made off with their rifles and a cash of Rs500,000.

Five outlaws forced their entry into the house of landlord Habibullah at Pir Kotli village, Pir Ahmad Shah. They held the inmates hostage and looted Rs350,000, mobile phones, gold jewellery and other valuables.

Six gangsters entered the house of rice dealer Mirza Sajjad Baig in Ghakkhar Town. They held the family members hostage and made off with cash worth Rs325,000, ornaments, prize bonds amounting to Rs3,000, mobile phones, wrist watches and other valuables.

Two robbers intercepted landlord Muhammad Hanif and his wife Zahida Shaheen and deprived them of Rs4,600 and a motorcycle (GAL-7682) when they were on way to Banke Cheema village from Kalaski.

ADJOURNED: The local anti-terrorism court No 1 on Monday adjourned the Sialkot jail incident case till Oct 23. The court accepted the surety bonds of two accused, Dr Firdous and Dr Mahmood Ahmad of Allama Iqbal memorial hospital, for their bail.

All the accused, including former DIG Malik Muhammad Iqbal, ex-Sialkot DPO Amjad Javed Saleemi and the elite force officials were present in the court.
