SHIKARPUR, Oct 18: The SHO of Lahi Gate police station, Wasim Mira, on behalf of the state registered an FIR against 50 people belonging to various political and city organisations under section 124-A, 341, 147 and 149-34 PPC here on Sunday.

According to police, Naveed Alam Abro (Task Force), Mian Zafar Alvi (Task Force), Hadin Bux Malik (PML-N), Saeed Soomro (AT), Sanhiro Brohi (PYO), Fahad Memon, Barkat Ali Bhutto (PPP), Nadeem Memon, Naseer Mangi (JSM-Z), Gulzar Brohi, Imran Mirani, Naseem Samo, Younus Phulpoto (SNA) and 37 others were involved in inciting the people against the district administration and spread hatred against the government through delivering speeches during their sit-in protest at the Lakhi Gate Tower Chowk on Sunday evening. No arrest was made till the filing of this report.

It may be recalled that after the killing of a student, Sandeep Kumar, and illegal occupation of plots and agricultural lands belonging to Mian Zafar Alvi and Mohammad Suleman Soomro in Shikarpur, the people had staged a sit-in against police and demanded arrest of the culprits.

Maulvi Bakhtullah Pahore, Ghulam Sarwar Soomro and Haji Nisar Ahmed Memon in their statements expressed concern over lodging an FIR against the people and termed it an act against human rights.

LAW, ORDER: Speakers at a representative meeting of political parties and various city organizations have expressed their concern over growing insecurity of life, honour and property due to deteriorating law and order in Shikarpur district.

The meeting, attended by representatives of political parties, trade, business, social and city associations and Hindu Panchayat, was held at the residence of Mian Zafar Ali Alvi, former vice-president of the Shikarpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, on Saturday night in the wake of killing of a student, Sandeep Kumar, by three bandits.

The meeting condemned the murder of Sandeep Kumar and expressed its resentment over the negative role of police.

Through a resolution, the participants asked the chief minister and the provincial police chief to take notice of the worsening law and order situation in the district. They also appealed to MNAs, MPAs and other elected representatives to help purge the district of criminal elements.

Those who spoke on the occasion included Haji Nisar Ahmed Memon (MMA), Mian Zafar Ali Alvi (SCCI), Malik Hadi Bux (PML-N), Aqeel Abbas (AT), Naseer Mangi (JSM-Z), Naveed Alam (Task Force), Mohammad Parial Mari (Human Rights activist), Ali Dost Banglani (PML), Younis Khan (SNF), Imtiaz Mahar (PML), Maulvi Abdul Fatah Mahar (JUI), Satiapal (Hindu Panchayat) and Faheem Soomro (PPP).
