GUJAR KHAN, June 2: The bodies of victims of the Dina road accident who have been identified till filing of this report, include Muhammad Sultan, Muhammad Amjad, Khushab; Ramzan, Abdul Qayum, Zeenat Bibi, Khurshid Bibi, Nighat Bibi, Muhammad Asif, Attiqur Rehman, Muhammad Imran, Bilal Ahmed, Muhammad Nadeem, Muhammad Rahat, Shahid, Amir Ali, Muhammad Sarfraz, Ghulam Farid, Zahid Rauf, Muhammad Khawar, Muhammad Khalid, Tausif Ahmed, residents of Lahore; Zafar Hayat resident of Sargodha; Khalid Mahmood, resident of Shakargarh; Muhammad Zafar, Muhammad Ilyas, Muhammad Murtaza, Mian Inayat, residents of Gujranwala, Mazhar Ali and Din Muhammad residents of Faisalabad; Mujahid Ali Butt and Shehzad Ali, residents of Poonch, AJK.
The police sources confirmed that about 29 bodies had been dispatched to the home towns of the victims after confirmation through wireless messages by their respective police stations. They said 12 bodies were lying in the DHQ hospital, Jhelum, yet to be identified.
They said that most of the relatives of the victims after getting the information about the accident had rushed to Jhelum to receive the bodies of their dear ones.
The locals of the area told this scribe that the Bakrala bridge had been notorious for major road accidents thanks to flaw in the designing of the site by the contractors.
It is pertinent to mention that an oil tanker full of high octane fuel had overturned while negotiating the sudden turn at the mouth of the bridge located at the sloppy road.
A Chakwal-bound bus while had caught fire and at least 14 passengers had been burnt alive in the inferno.
The technical flaw was pointed out in the press and the contractors had discovered that the road had a sudden turn right at the entrance of the bridge but no effort has been made to rectify the situation.
A senior officer of the district administration attributed the angular twist in the road at the slop of the accidents.
