WANA, July 24: Corps Commander Peshawar Lt-Gen Safdar Hussain on Saturday visited Shakai and other areas in the South Waziristan tribal region where army troops had carried out an operation against foreign and local militants.

The commander held meetings with the elders at Shakai where the army and FC troops had entered on July 13 after a week-long action against militants.

Lt-Gen Safdar announced that lady doctors would be sent to look after women in the area. He also addressed the army troops.

Meanwhile, officials said the political authorities had arrestedthe chief of Ahmadzai Wazir tribe in Wana, Mohammad Ali, under the collective responsibility clause of the 1901 FCR.
