SIALKOT, July 24: The first death anniversary of the four slain civil judges is being observed here on Sunday. Quran khawani will be held at the Sialkot district jail for the eternal peace of the departed souls. Tributes will also be paid to the judges in a special condolence reference to be held under the auspices of the district bar association and citizens police liaison committee (CPLC).
A delegation of Sialkot judicial officials and lawyers will visit Sargodha, Sahiwal and Mandi Bahauddin to offer fateha at the graves of the judges.
As many as four civil judges and five prisoners were killed during a shootout at the district jail on July 25, 2003.
NEGLIGENCE: On the orders of Sialkot DPO Nisar Ahmad Saroya, the Rangpura police have registered a case against its naib muharrar and a constable for negligence in performance of duties.
Reports said the police brought three dacoits Mohsin, Khurram and Ali from the Sialkot district jail to Rangpura police station for investigations.
On Friday night, naib muharrar Anwarul Haq and constable Ilyas went to the lock-up to give them food items. Meanwhile, the bandits fled after throwing red chilies into the officials' eyes.
However, ASI Muhammad Ashraf and constable Sarfraz chased them and re-arrested Mohsin and Khurram while Ali managed his escape.
