COLOMBO, July 22: On a high after their mauling of Pakistan, Sri Lanka will look to make short work of minnows Bangladesh in a Super League match here on Friday and assure themselves of a berth in the final of the Asia Cup.
The Lankans have lived up to their reputation of being tigers at home and are only team to remain undefeated so far in the competition in league as well as Super League stage.
Their humiliation of defending champions Pakistan in their opening Super League match yesterday left little doubt that they are a team in top form notwithstanding lack of runs from willow of star batsman Sanath Jayasuriya.
Batting wise there might be a few worries for home team but their bowling is surely going great guns.
With champion off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan having proved that doosra or not, he can still be formidable and speedster Nuwan Zoysa fast turning out to be trumpcard for hosts, Sri Lanka is ready to give every other team a run for its money.
That they run into Bangladesh next would only help hosts fine-tune their game further ahead of tough contest against India on Tuesday next week.-Agencies
