KHAIRPUR, May 29: Hundreds of villagers took out a procession in Priyaloi on Friday on the second day of their protest against suspension of power supply by officials of the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company.
The protest leaders, Kingri naib nazim Mumtaz Hussain Kanhar and Nisar Ahmed Odho, told journalists that power supply to Ulra Jagir, Faiz Mohammad Bundo, Kot Mir Mohammad, Wengus Phulpoto and other areas remained suspended for the fourth consecutive day.
They claimed that crop standing over hundreds of acres of land was dying as some 300 tube wells remained inoperative due to non-supply of power.
Meanwhile, residents of different villages took out a procession in Wari village, near Khairpur, against Hesco officials for disconnecting power supply to some 10 villages.
SNATCHED: Two motorcycles were snatched in different parts of the district on Thursday night in separate incidents.
Six armed men deprived two motorcyclists, Abdul Wahid Phulpoto and Inamullah Phulpoto, of their motorcycle, wristwatches, gold chain and cash on the National Highway- Priyaloi road.
Later, they escaped after tying up the motorcyclists.
In another incident, some unidentified armed men snatched a motorcycle from Gul Bahadur Lund and his brother, Gul Mir, in the jurisdiction of the Mirwah police station.
DISPUTE: Ten armed men barged into the house of Mohammad Matal Shaikh in Faizabad colony and shot dead his son, Munawar Hussain, 28, on offering resistance.
Younger brother of the deceased man, Iqbal Hussain as well as Imtiaz Ali and Iqbal Ali Shaikh sustained serious injuries and were admitted to the Khairpur Civil Hospital.
Motive behind the incident was said to be some matrimonial dispute.
No case was registered till the filing of this report.
