KARACHI, May 29: Federal Education Minister Zobaida Jalal has called for undertaking concerted efforts to make the country moderate and economically strong.

The minister was speaking at a programme held after the inauguration of Teachers' Development Centre at Allama I.I. Kazi Hall of Sindh Madressahtul Islam.

She said that the government had introduced technical education in the country. However, she pointed out that there was a need to improve the curricula further. In this regard, she said, human rights subject would be incorporated in the curricula.

Zobaida Jalal stressed that teachers must commit themselves with their profession as well as with the nation. Teachers should serve as the ideal for students, she added.

She said, "Good buildings and infrastructure are not necessary for imparting quality education, but, it is basically the commitment of teachers which really matters."

Earlier, SMI principal Muhammad Ali Shaikh gave a brief introduction of the centre. The basic objective of the centre, he said, was to provide an opportunity to teachers for developing their skills and improve teaching methodology as to enhance the quality of education. He said the first batch of 36 SMI teachers had completed a three-week training, which was arranged in collaboration with the Education Foundation Karachi and AKU.-APP
