HYDERABAD, April 10: Hyderabad Development Authority Director-General Ali Ahmed Lund has directed the building control department to immediately demolish dilapidated and dangerous buildings to avoid any unpleasant incident during the monsoon rains.
This he said while presiding over a rain emergency meeting here on Saturday.
A detailed briefing was given by XENs concerned about the rain emergency measures taken in three talukas of the city.
The director-general stressed upon the officers to remove all technical faults at the pumping stations before the commencement of rainy season.
He directed that revolving generators should be provided in three city talukas to drain out rain water in case of sudden power breakdowns.
WASA Managing-Director Kafeel Ahmed told the meeting that since Latifabad taluka was located in the low lying area therefore during the rainy season all the city water had been accumulated there which created insurmountable drainage problems.
He said at least Rs5 million were needed immediately to rectify the situation. Mr Lund directed that a summary should be put up to the district government in this regard without any delay.
WASA: Water and Sanitation Agency has notified here on Saturday that the water bills for the month of March have already been issued and the last date for payment of bills has been fixed as April 17.
A spokesman of WASA said bills could also be deposited at the post offices.
The manger commercial advised the consumers to ensure the payment of bills by due date. He said after April 17, the vigilance teams of WASA would visit every home in the three city talukas and check the bills.
He appealed to the consumers to strengthen the water supply and drainage system by paying the bills before due date. He said facility had also been extended to the consumers to clear their arrears in instalments.
SAU: The deputy registrar (admissions), Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam on Saturday announced the admission schedule for graduate and post graduate programmes.
Admissions to second term under the graduate programme for the academic year 2002-03 will start from April 12 to April 24 with normal fee while late fee of Rs100 will be charged from April 26 to April 30.
The classes will commence from May 3. About postgraduate programme, the deputy registrar said admissions will be allowed from April 27 to May 10 on normal fee whereas late fee of Rs100 will be charged from May 11 to May 15.
Classes of postgraduate students will commence from May 17. The students have been advised to attend their classes regularly as 75 per cent attendance was mandatory for appearing in the examination.
