PESHAWAR, June 1: NWFP Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah has urged the private sector to join hands with the government in its efforts to promote high-tech education in the province, saying: “We would welcome public-private partnership in the field of education.”

He was speaking at a briefing on grant of charter to Northern University of Science and Technology by a private concern here on Friday.

Chief Secretary Shakil Durrani and Adviser to the Governor on Science and Technology Lutfullah Kakakhel were also present on the occasion.

Welcoming the decision by the Educational Development and Research Trust (EDRT) for establishing the Northern University of Science and Technology in the NWFP, the governor said the provincial government would appreciate their willingness to establish such an institution at any place in district Nowshera.

He also mentioned the availability of vacant government buildings, specially at Nowshera, saying the terms and conditions for their leasing out could be settled by the respective department.
