HYDERABAD, March 13: Forty teachers were booked by police on Saturday in Khairpur and Jacobabad districts as teachers' boycott of annual examinations of class IX and X entered sixth day.
Protest rallies and token hunger strikes by the teachers against non- acceptance of their demands by the government continued throughout Sindh, excepting Karachi.
A group of teachers, observed a token hunger strike in Hyderabad where boycott of examinations by government school teachers continued.
The Government Secondary Teachers' Association took out a procession from the Hopeful High School that culminated outside the press club. The participants pledged to continue the struggle until their demands were met and sought intervention of the president and prime minister in the matter.
KHAIRPUR: Secondary sch-ool teachers continued their protest and boycotted examinations.
A case was registered against 33 members of the Government School Teachers Association on the charge of inciting students to tear answer copies.
JACOBABAD: Examination supervisor Imtiaz Jakhrani lodged a case against seven GSTA members at the City police station, accusing them of tearing answer sheets and fighting with the education EDO.
Nazir Umrani, Abid Bhutto, Nasir Bhutto, Tayyab Soomro, Janib Kori, Ghani Sarki and Badal Veesar have been cited as accused.
The GSTA and PTA took out a joint procession in Thul, condemning government's apathy towards the teachers.
NAWABSHAH: The teachers took out a procession and observed a token hunger strike here to pressure the authorities to accept their demands.
The participants raised slogans against Sindh Education Minister Irfanullah Marwat and demanded his removal,
MIRPURKHAS: The secondary school teachers boycotted annual examination of class-IX and X and observed a token hunger strike here.
The primary school teachers also continued their token hunger strike outside the press club for acceptance of their demands.
SHIKARPUR: A large number of the teachers took out a protest procession here against non-acceptance of their demands and blocked the National Highway at Rustam Chowk.
The teachers demanded dismissal of Stuart Ganj SHO Hameed Khakhrani for restoring to baton charge on the teachers.
The token hunger strike by the Primary Teachers Association activists continued.
BADIN: The teachers continued boycott of examinations in the district and staged protest rallies in Badin city, Nindo Shaher, Rajo Khanani, Tando Ghulam Ali and Kario Ghanwar, where the GSTA leaders vowed to continue their struggle.
SANGHAR: The secondary school teachers continued boycott of examinations and the education authorities conducted examinations with the help of non-teaching staff and teachers of a private college.
