DHAKA, Jan 17: A dawn-to-dusk general strike, called by journalists in Khulna to condemn the murder of one of their colleagues, passed off peacefullyon Saturday.
Unidentified assailants killed Manik, Khulna correspondent of Dhaka-based national daily New Age and stringer for BBC radio, in a bomb attack on Thursday
Another dawn-to-dusk strike called by the main opposition Awami League to protest against Manik's killing will be observed on Sunday throughout the district.
Besides, several journalists in Khulna staged a token hunger strike at a makeshift stage near the press club's south crossing, where Manik was assassinated.
No arrest has so far been made in connection with the murder.
