PESHAWAR, April 23: Political authorities in the Kurram Agency have set up Conflict Resolution Forum (CRF) to work for maintaining sectarian harmony in the area. The forum, comprising 100 representatives, parliamentarians and elders of different tribes and sectarian groups, would take decisions regarding all sectarian-related issues in the remote area, an official handout issued here on Saturday said.
It added that after constituting CRF, a code of conduct has been formulated for holding religious ceremonies in the agency which has been in the grip of sectarian tension for the last one month.
Under the agreement, all sectarian issues would be put before CRF for deliberation and decision and no sectarian issue would be discussed during religious gatherings and processions.
The political administration will oversee the proceedings of the CRF. The handout said that the month-long sectarian tension in the Kurram Agency had been defused amicably and both the sects, for the first time, have reached an agreement on a code of conduct for all religious processions and gatherings.
NWFP Governor Khalil-ur-Rehman has expressed satisfaction over the peace agreement and appreciated the efforts of the political administration for maintaining peaceful atmosphere during the Eid Milad celebrations.
The governor hoped that the agreement would be followed in letter and in spirit for preserving peace and promoting harmony on every such occasion in the future.
