Woman tortured

LARKANA, May 31: An unknown woman with visible marks of torture on her body was admitted to the casualty department, Chandka Medical College Teaching Hospital, Larkana, on Friday.

Police said that she was found lying on the footpath near an overhead bridge, wrapped only in a chaddar. From there she was brought to the nearby women police station for safety.

The police said that she was given clothes twice to wear but she tore them and beat herself. She was in the state of semi-consciousness, police added.

The lady, who was identified as Khalida, had the visible signs of torture in her face and arms. Pointing towards police, she said that they had tortured her.

The lady, who could talk in Punjabi, Sindhi and Seraki, said that two persons took her from Rahim Yar Khan and kept her in Sehwan where they brutally tortured her.

Lady doctor Zaib Tunio examined her and suggested that she be shifted to psychiatry ward.

The doctor said that the signs of torture were visible on her body.

A police guard has been deployed at the casualty ward but so far no case has been registered.
