KARACHI, April 19: Eight ships carrying maize seed, soyabean meal and to load cement and rice are due to arrive at the outer anchorage on Wednesday, according to KPT sources. Berthing activity at the wharves was modest where four ships, Kota Waris, Kota Indah, with containers, Arkaan to load rice and Chemstar King to offload lube oil were berthed after the departure of six.

The vessels, which departed included Iran Hesabi, Kota Waris, Rinkenis, Ocean Emperor, Shimakaze and Islamabad, while Kota Indah, Aquarius Leader, Lady Nuhad and Gao He are due to sail out on Wednesday.

Owing to lower handling of liquid cargo, the total tonnage remained modest at 31,809 tons comprising 13,358 tons of export cargo including 5,476 tons of rice and 912 tons of cement and 18,451 tons of import cargo.

The following ships are due on Wednesday: Mercs Sajinda, with 1,100 tons of maize seeds and 600 tons of soyabean meal, Pacific Sound, to load 17,000 tons of molasses, Sagamore, Cape Perro, Hyundai Stride and Y.M. Moon, with containers, Dina Queen, to load cement and general cargo and Tyhi to load 11,5000 tons of rice.
