PESHAWAR, April 14: A six-member delegation of the provincial government, which was scheduled to hold meetings with senior representatives of international lending institutions next week, has cancelled its planned visit to the United Kingdom and the United States, according to sources.
Well-placed sources said that the visit was cancelled due to re-scheduling of by-election for the Senate’s vacant seat from the NWFP as the senior minister and health minister, both belonging to the Jamaat-i-Islami, did not want to leave the country at this crucial juncture.
The team that was to be led by Provincial Minister for Finance, Planning and Development Siraj-ul-Haq, was to leave for the United Kingdom on way to Washington on April 17.
