NAWABSHAH, April 9: Activists of the People’s Party Parliamentarians observed a token hunger strike outside the press club here on Saturday against arrest of MPA Ghulam Qadir Chandio and division of the district.

They were led by district party general secretary Imdad Dhamrah, taluka president Bagh Ali Shah, party women’s wing president Qamarunnisa Dhamrah, Sattar Jamali and others.

Carrying placards and banners, the protesters raised slogans against the Sindh government.

They termed the arrest of MPA Chandio a conspiracy and claimed that he had

been implicated in a fake case. They demanded withdrawal of the case against Mr Chandio.

They maintained that the PPP had always struggled for restoration of democracy and added that a large number of party activists would reach Lahore on April 16 to welcome Asif Ali Zardari.

ADVISER: The adviser to the Sindh chief minister on political affairs, Ghulam Rasool Unnar, has said he is being involved in MPA Ghulam Qadir Chandio’s case for no reason.

Speaking at a press conference at the circuit house here on Saturday, he said MPA Chandio had been arrested in an FIR lodged by Nawabshah NPP president Abdullah Chandio and he had nothing to do with the case.

He said he was being involved in the case by a particular group who wanted to harm his political career.
