SUKKUR, April 6: The general secretary of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Aaml, Sindh, Dr Khalid Mahmood Soomro, has warned the Sindh government to release the arrested MMA activists by April 18 or face a strong protest movement. Addressing a public meeting at the Deha village, near here, on Tuesday night, the MMA leader termed the April 2 strike successful. Dr Soomro said that police with a negative mindset tried their best to enrage MMA leaders and workers who remained calm and quiet during the strike.

The MMA leader claimed that not a single vehicle or property was damaged during the strike.

Terming the division of Hyderabad “a step in wrong direction”, he said this would end up in division of the entire province. He said that Hyderabad was divided to please a particular group and condemned the move.

The MMA leader further said the Sindh government had miserably failed in solving people’s problems and said the government resorted to such tactics only to shift common men’s mind from real issues. Meanwhile, Dr. Mahmood Soomro visited the central jail, Sukkur, and met the interned MMA workers.
