ISLAMABAD, April 5: Punjab authorities vowed on Tuesday to hold a mini-marathon with women participants despite threats by hardline segments to stop it. Hundreds of baton-wielding activists attacked participants in a race involving both men and women in the central city of Gujranwala on Sunday prompting another city, Sargodha, to drop plans for a similar race. But the Punjab minister of sports said the Sargodha race would go ahead as scheduled on Friday.?Reuters
