PPP MPA booked in kidnapping case

NAWABSHAH, April 5: Acting president of PPP?s Nawabshah district chapter and MPA Ghulam Qadir Chandio, his two brothers, his two relatives and 25 other people were booked by Nawabshah police on Tuesday in a kidnapping case. Abdullah Chandio, district president National Peoples Party, lodged an FIR with taluka police stating that the MPA, his brothers Ghulam Hyder Chandio and Ghulam Hussain Chandio, two relatives Ramzan Chandio and Ghulam Muhammad Chandio, and 25 unidentified persons armed with weapons reached his land in Deh 38, taluka Nawabshah, and kidnapped his farmer Khuda Bux Chandio and threatened to kill his father and escaped.

Mr Chandio told Dawn at the police station ?that this case was nothing but political victimization?. Meanwhile, activists of Pakistan People?s Party along with hundreds of women, took out a rally and staged a demonstration outside Nawabshah press club against the arrest of their leader.

Carrying banners and placards and raising slogans against adviser to Sindh Chief Minister for politically victimizing PPP, they burnt tyres on the road.

Speaking on the occasion, district general secretary of the party, Imdad Dhamrah condemned the arrest of MPA and termed the arrest illegal. He said that Sindh government had completely failed and the ?confused? head of the government was victimising PPP activists.

He further said that it was a conspiracy to block PPP workers from welcoming Asif Ali Zardari in Lahore on April 16. President PPP women wing Nawabshah, Ms Qamarunnisa Dhamrah, said that PPP had always struggled for restoration of democracy and democratic people always faced tough times but the PPP would not succumb to such pressure tactics.

Those who spoke on the occasion included Faqir Faiz Muhammad Hisbani, Syed Bagh Ali Shah, Saleem Zardari, Kashif Noonari and others.

NAZIM: Meanwhile, Zila Nazim Nawabshah, Ms Faryal Talpur has also condemned the arrest of Mr Chandio and termed this act as shameful.

CONDEMNED: PPP MNA Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah has condemned the arrest of MPA Ghulam Qadir Chandio.

Talking to newsmen here on Tuesday, he said that Mr Chandio was being politically victimized.

He said that the government was trying to harass PPP workers so they may not go to Lahore to welcome Asif Ali Zardari.

He demanded immediate release of Mr Chandio.

npp: The president of National People?s Party, Nawabshah district, Abdullah Chandio, has alleged that the PPP MPA and his relatives have forcibly encroached his 215 acres of farm land in Dehs 38 and 40 in Dad, Nawabshah taluka.

He told newsmen at a press conference here on Tuesday that Mr Chandio, along with his brothers, relatives and his supporters kidnapped his farmer Khuda Bux Chandio and also threatened to kill him.

He said that as a citizen of this country he has every right to lodge an FIR and there was no political motive behind it.

He said that hue and cry of the PPP over the issue was unjustified.

He said that he was ready for tribal jirga, led by Nawab Shabbir Khan Chandio and urged the president, the prime minister, the chief minister and the IGP of Sindh to provide him protection and justice.
