Rs50m allocated for teachers training

NAWABSHAH, April 4: The Sindh government has earmarked an amount of Rs50 million for training of heads of higher and secondary schools. This was stated by special secretary education and literacy department Abdul Qadir Mangi while speaking at a certificate distribution ceremony at the Provincial Institute of Teachers Education on Monday.

He said at present 2,000 men and women teachers were being trained in the province and Rs30,000 would be spent on each trainee.

Mr Mangi said the government would distribute free books upto the intermediate level and scholarships would be given upto matriculation soon.

He said that funds of the school management committee would be doubled and added that Rs200 million would be kept for training programme for the next year.

The special secretary distributed certificates among trained heads who completed the leadership training programme.

He also held a meeting with education officers of Nawabshah at the Teachers Resource Centre.

HEATWAVE: The people of the town experienced a hot day as temperature shot upto 44 degree on Monday.

Business activities were affected and the main markets wore a deserted look.

PROTEST: Residents of the Waryal Shah village on Monday staged a demonstration and observed a token hunger strike outside the press club in protest against the naib nazim of the union council 60-Mile.

Talking to reporters, they said Waryal Shah village existed for the last 150 years in Deh 20 Nusrat.

They said the naib nazim of the UC 60-Miles, Safar Mari, and others wanted to eject villagers forcibly and were also threatening them.

They demanded that the president and prime minister of Pakistan and the chief minister of Sindh should order an inquiry into the affair and ensure justice.

PROTEST: The Jafria Alliance and Millat-i-Jafria have condemned killing of Allama Ghulam Hussain Najafi in Lahore.

The president of the Jafria Alliance, Syed Afzal Shah, and leaders of the Millat-i-Jafria, Maulana Kifayat Hussain Karimi and Mohammad Hussain Chandio demanded that the government should take stringent efforts to stop killing of Shia Ulema in the country.
