India visit: SBP raises foreign exchange quota

KARACHI, March 31: People travelling to India from Pakistan can now take with them a larger amount of officially obtained foreign exchange.The State Bank said on Thursday it had increased the foreign exchange quota for people travelling to India, from $25 per person per visit to $50 per person per day. But people will have to ensure that the total amount of foreign exchange they take with them while travelling to India does not exceed $2100 during one calendar year.The foreign exchange quota for people travelling to other countries is also $50 per day per person with a maximum limit of $2100 during a calendar year.This limit is for people undertaking private visits outside Pakistan. Different quotas are applicable for those who go abroad on official visits or to promote or establish business links.
