PESHAWAR, March 31: NWFP Health Minister Inayatullah Khan has ordered preparation of a comprehensive plan to convert the Government City Hospital, Peshawar, into a full-fledged teaching hospital to reduce burden on other hospitals of the city. He issued the order while speaking at the Best Health Workers Award ceremony at the hospital. He also inaugurated the newly- installed 100-line telephone exchange and cafeteria in the hospital.
Mr Khan said there was need of motivated managers who could develop institutions by boosting morale of workers. He advised authorities of other health institutions to learn from the experience of the city hospital for improving performance of their institutions. The minister said that health department had allocated Rs2 million for encouragement of good workers.
He said that work on standardisation of 22 district headquarters hospitals (DHQs) of the province was in progress and almost 50 per cent of civil work had been completed. “These DHQ hospitals would be upgraded to the level of teaching hospital to provide quality health care facilities at local level,” he maintained.
